HENA’s mission is to create an environment in which all home educating families in Arizona can share resources, find support, and build community.

Statement of Principles:

  • We are an inclusive group that respects, values, and finds strength in diversity.
  • We are neutral in matters of religion and partisan politics
  • We respect each other’s educational choices
  • We advocate peaceful interaction and conflict resolution
  • We encourage open communication
  • The governing body operates by consensus

Welcome!

The Home Education Network of Arizona (HENA) is a statewide organization.  Our mission is to create an environment in which all home educating families in Arizona can share resources, find support, and build community by providing:

  • Resources such as links to playgroups, support groups, curriculum information, websites, etc.
  • Advocacy as a legal watchdog to stay informed about and give input on issues that affect home education
  • Public Relations/Media Outreach to inform and promote a positive image of home education to the public
  • Community Outreach among the home-educating community
  • Conference or convention to provide speakers and vendors

We invite you to join us to help make this organization accessible and useful to all Arizona home educating families as we begin to set specific goals in each of these areas.

There is a $10 annual fee to join HENA, but you can receive free membership for volunteering as we are an all-volunteer group with a Governing Board operating on the consensus-based model, that allows all members to serve on our volunteer board.

Currently, our members are mostly located in the Phoenix Metro area; so we hope that those in Flagstaff, Tucson, and rural areas will join us and communicate your needs. We encourage you to become actively involved.  If you would like more information, email hena@hena.us

We are always adding to our support groups and resource list.   Please feel free to join us or give us feedback. For web specific input or to be added to our resource list, please email webmaster@hena.us, otherwise, feel free to contact any of our volunteer contacts listed below.

Again, we welcome you to join us and look forward to your input and feedback. We have regular monthly meetings. Please contact us for directions and additional information if you would like to attend.

Always Learning!

Sincerely,

HENA Governing Board
Home Education Network of Arizona

The Home Education Network of Arizona is always looking for volunteer help. All of the members are volunteers who have a great love for maintaining educational choice and freedom for families and helping new families find their way. You do not have to be an expert and in fact, volunteering puts you in close proximity to families of all types. Many duties need to be filled, ranging from data entry to board membership. These duties, no matter how large or small, can give you the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to keep a freedom of education and families alive now and in the future.
